We went to university together http://yuvututube.fun yuvutu If Di Cintio’s book offers hope, it is rarely in expectation that his walls will be dismantled like Berlin’s, but in the imaginative way these divisions have been subverted by art. In Belfast, an organisation has pasted the walls with photographs depicting the actual view beyond them so as to “disappear” the old divisions. In the West Bank town of Ramallah activists have turned the wall into a notice-board carrying messages of love and connection, even recipes, from across the world. Di Cintio concludes his interesting but flawed book, which unaccountably contains no maps, with the welcome conviction that the human desire to bring walls down is as strong as the instinct to build them up.
