Unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 14, according to a new report, “Child Poverty, Unintentional Injuries and Foodborne Illness,” from the Consumer Federation of America. The report also concludes that children in low-income families are at particular risk, a fact it attributes to “deteriorated housing, unsafe housing, lower nutritional status and less parental supervision in one-parent homes.”
